About Jersey Girl Photography

Welcome to my world. A world full of observing and capturing life’s moments

It started when my father gave me his old 35mm Canon a few years back. The way I saw the world changed. I was no longer just seeing life pass by me in a moving sense but began to see life in frames. Snapshots

I began composing what I was seeing in life into still frames from behind the lens of my camera, capturing them forever in print better than our memories can. Memories, the mind’s photo album

I was born and raised in New Jersey and relocated to Seattle Washington in late 2000. Living in Seattle, I have been teased about my New Jersey upbringing, but I believe that New Jersey upbringing has been a benefit to my art form…

The multiplicity of experiences I have had from one coast to another and still finding my place here in Seattle, negotiating and navigating between geographies and cultures, capturing those changes in still frames.

The irony is that change and movement can exist in a still frame.

Life Captured

My photographic artwork is deeply rooted within the New Jersey heartbeat, thumping through its gray mortar into the hearts of the people.

Although New Jersey is no longer my home and Seattle now is ,that heartbeat is still is there, and I will still ask you ,”What exit are you?” when asking for directions

You can take the girl out of Jersey but not the Jersey out of the girl.

That old Canon 35mm I was given has been since retired as I entered the digital age a couple years ago, with yes, another Canon or two. It may not be being used to take anymore pictures as it rests in that camera bag, but still is a tangible force.
